MN: 23 men arrested in Bloomington prostitution sting

Source:  startribune.com 3/20/23

Bloomington police arrested nearly two dozen men in a prostitution sting last week, according to the department.

Officers from Bloomington’s special investigations unit created a phony ad for an adult sex worker featuring photos of an undercover Bloomington officer, according to a news release from the Police Department.

Part of the purpose of the sting, Hodges said, was to find potential victims of human trafficking. He said he hoped the men arrested could point police to real sex workers whose services they sought in the past and who may be trafficking victims.

So basically creating one crime to MAYBE stop another. It would be hilarious if the men pointed to the chief’s wife or daughter as the hooker they went to before. 🤣

How does arresting guys who are trying to pay for sex help in locating sex traffickers? The majority of girls who post ads for pay to play are doing it willingly for the money. and I doubt any guy in his right mind would snitch on any girl he previously paid for. I happen to have a friend who is an escort, but if I was ever picked up in a sting like this, I would NEVER admit to past liaisons, nor would I snitch her out.
Instead of arresting guys who are just trying to have a good time, why don’t the cops respond to the real escorts and instead of arresting them, talk to them to find out if they’re being forced into sex work and offer a way out? Oh yeah, that would show the cops to have sympathy.

From the article…”…possessing a firearm as a felon. Two other people were arrested with firearms, Hodges said.”

Ummm, is it just me or are these “Stings” getting more and more… dicey? Who brings a gun to a hooker hook up? I mean, if you’re just the kinda guy that brings a gun with you, the same way my Dad never leaves the house with out a handkerchief…then ok…I guess. However 3 out of 23 is 13%. Is that typical for these kinds of situations?

Here’s my concern…is bringing a gun with you to an Internet facilitated hook up becoming more common? If so, why? I did plenty of internet hook ups and never brought a gun to any of them. Now, none of them were for, “Professional services”…all amateur, adults… So maybe that matters?

Also thinking about some of the story’s I’ve read here about the Online Vigilante sting people…and how guns are turning up there too.

Are these “Stings” actually making things more dangerous by prompting more people to bring guns with them to their internet hook up? Are these fake hooker stings getting guns shoved in the face of real hookers? If so, how is that “Helping”. I mean I guess her Trafficking nightmare ends….now that she’s dead…

Are the online Vigilante bait and switch groups getting guns shoved in the face of real teens looking for “Love” via the net?

Last, for the moment is…just who is being “Trafficked”?

Actual hooker places an ad on the internet looking for customers.
Undercover cop shows up at actual hooker home to find her, her boyfriend, 20 pounds of meth and a dozen unregistered handguns. You think she’s not going to tell you her tale of woe about how this guy trafficked the hell out of her? I think she just might…

Oh and if actual hooker happens to have a teen daughter living there…I mean being held hostage there…you know…by the traffickers…yeah. Those mean old traffickers that forced…FORCED them to smoke meth….daily….forced them to!

Filipino parents using their kids for online shows…If we found something like that here…I guarantee every, single one of those Mom’s was trafficked by…ummm….him or him…or that one guy that was here but left….ummm…few other guys….yeah….so many traffickers it created a traffic jam! Yeah….totally…. trafficked….like way more than usual….extra, extra trafficked….all of them…forever.

“Trafficked” is now a magic, “Get out of jail free” card? Maybe not, but it can’t hurt to try…especially considering that Chief of Police Chuckles, State Senator Bozo, AG Bongo, and DA Kooky have their vitally necessary anti-trafficking program to…ummm…have no bearing on this whatsoever…uh huh….not even if Governor Sir Laughs-alot is in on it!

men that see women are often lonely or fat or ugly and cant have normal relationships men have needs so Vegas here i come

Why would the 23 people, already publicly humiliated by mugshots, choose to help the Thin Blue Liars? Given all but one of them only received a misdemeanor charge, that’s not much incentive to “turn State’s evidence” on anyone. Plus, MN has a non-public registry for most people, so there’s not public shame once the media move on to something newer and juicier.
